In February 2021, the first cohort of students initiated a new agricultural training program in Dodoma. The 8 month course and 2 month practical provided 30 students the opportunity to get hands on experience with Israeli technology at the Agricultural Innovation and Technology Center in Dodoma. The course provided a combination of theoretical and practical education. Students took part in the cultivation of the site’s first season of crops, producing carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, onion, eggplant and watermelon. The students were the first in Tanzania to undergo trainings at the AITEC site. While the course was a huge success there are many lessons learned and the hope is to improve from year to year, building a new generation of agricultural experts.
